Artist Statement

I am a visual artist with over 35 years of experience spanning drawing, painting, digital media, comics, animation, and commissioned portraiture. Classically trained in animation at VanArts in Vancouver, Canada, I have developed mastery in the broader spectrum of visual arts as a largely self-taught prodigy. My creative foundation was laid at Langley Fine Arts School and has continued to evolve through a dynamic blend of formal study and self-directed exploration, fostering a discipline rooted in curiosity, intention, and a deep connection to visual storytelling.

My early work in video game development sharpened my skills in 3D animation, concept art, and storyboarding, but it also guided me toward my true passion: landscape and abstract painting in mixed media. My work explores the intersection of emotional resonance and technical precision, blending expressive brushwork with layered textures to create pieces that invite connection and contemplation.

I have been commissioned for a wide range of projects—from pet portraits and book covers to abstract canvases and postcards—each one a collaborative process shaped by meaning and personal narrative. In addition, I bring a strong teaching background, finding deep fulfillment in private mentorships that nurture individual creative growth.

Whether working with a brush, pencil, stylus, or spray can, I strive to create art that feels timeless, personal, and alive—art that tells a story, sparks reflection, and celebrates the shared human experience.
